Welcome to Emmanuel Evangelical Church
Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. We are a nondenominational fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our worship service is a family type (for all ages) with nursery provided. Sunday school classes are for children, youth and adults. The services include singing hymns, and praise songs, praying together, Scripture reading, a collection, and preaching. We celebrate two sacraments: Holy Communion on the first weekend of every month and Baptism by immersion in a local lake in the Summer or when needed.
More Like a Family
Emmanuel functions like a family. Our members meet often during the week for various hobbies, pursuits, and teachings. For example, a group of men is often eager to get together for fishing, basketball, watching games, or engaging in projects...all aside from discipleship opportunities that may be offered at the Church, and the group is different almost every time. In contrast, the women will get together for things as simple as coffee dates and as complex as sewing sweatshops, producing hundreds of blankets for missions...aside from their unique discipleship opportunities.
Many churches offer varied and grand children’s programs, designed to reach, disciple, and fellowship kids at their level. While Emmanuel does offer extraordinary opportunities for our kids (like Royal Rangers and Missionettes!), our goal is to involve them as often as possible in the goings on at the church.
We feel that too much generational separation does little for church unity or the spiritual growth of the children.
For this reason, kids remain upstairs on Sundays as much as possible for side-by-side fellowship and discipleship with their parents. Those under 7 have the choice of engaging in a short children’s church lesson during the sermon. Seeing mom or dad worship their Creator and learn from His word first-hand leaves an indelible impression on their souls. Interacting on a regular basis with all of the members encourages godly friendships beyond those who are simply in their age bracket. It is common to see a teenager at Emmanuel out for a burger with an older saint, or an 8 year-old girl that wouldn’t miss a ladies’ devotional night if her life depended on it. Growing up this way, makes the progression from child to church member easy, natural, and even expected!
If you should need us for any reason, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We hope to see you soon!
